We should constantly be thinking about our current models of learning to figure out what\u2019s still working, what could be improved and why yesterday\u2019s success may no longer work in tomorrow\u2019s world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following are some of the characteristics that I\u2019ve found in successful leaders. In sum, they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exhibit professionalism, work ethics and integrity every day\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Exhibit leadership, regardless of their role in an organization<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Embrace freedom of expression for all<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Embrace intercultural fluency<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Employ critical thinking<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage in civil discourse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Regardless of one&#8217;s chosen discipline, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naceweb.org\/career-readiness\/competencies\/career-readiness-defined\/\">research from the National Association of Colleges and Employers<\/a> shows that these soft skills help students find more success in the workforce. More success in the workforce equals a greater impact on our communities, and an overall improved way of life for all. Ensuring that we educate students to be successful isn\u2019t just part of who we are.
