Dear campus community,

Thank you to everyone for your continued efforts during the pandemic. Our cases have continued to remain low, and we’re happy to announce that hundreds of individuals have taken advantage of our vaccination clinics across campus and elsewhere.

If you haven’t had a chance to get your vaccination, we will be hosting a vaccination clinic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MU Student Center, Sept. 14 & 15. If you can’t make that clinic, vaccines are available through the Student Health Center and Women’s and Children’s Hospital, as well as other locations in the area.

Today, the University of Missouri Board of Curators voted to extend our temporary mask mandates on campus through Oct. 15. This means that masks continue to be required in certain indoor areas on campus.

• All students, faculty, staff and visitors—regardless of vaccination status—are required to wear masks in classrooms, including while entering and exiting classrooms, as well as other meeting spaces where social distancing is not possible. For more details, see the Show Me Renewal website. If someone in a classroom is not wearing a mask, instructors can ask them to leave until they can comply. Violations of this requirement can be reported here.
• If you cannot socially distance yourself from others while waiting to enter a classroom, you are expected to wear your mask.
• Regardless of vaccination status, instructors are required to wear masks in classrooms and lab classes except when 10 feet from their audience and wearing a face shield or behind a physical barrier. When not distanced from the audience by 10 feet, the instructor must wear a mask. More stringent requirements may apply to clinical education, e.g. health care or veterinary health care.
• For the remaining indoor spaces on campus, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a mask. If you are fully vaccinated, MU recommends wearing a mask indoors.

In addition to the masking extension, the board resolution made an adjustment to guidelines related to athletic and social events. Masks are not required in outdoor settings. For indoor athletic and social events, masks are not required for vaccinated individuals, but they are recommended when social distancing is not possible. Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear masks indoors or when in areas where social distancing is not possible.

Some units across campus, including MU Health Care, School of Medicine and facilities in the College of Veterinary Medicine, may have different requirements that are specific to their units.
