Dear Mizzou Community,
Welcome to an exciting new academic year! It’s great to see the pride our students, faculty and staff take in Mizzou. We know you have bold ambitions and aspirations to change the world, and we’re honored to help you make those dreams a reality. Together, we will show the world what it means to be a Tiger.
We’re building on historic highs in retention and graduation rates, and more than 95% of recent graduates achieve a positive career outcome. We have outstanding faculty and staff who will guide your academic journey, as more than 8,700 new students are joining the more than 22,500 returning students to continue their education at Mizzou.
A Tradition of Excellence
Throughout campus, the hard work of Mizzou faculty and staff is making an impact. We recently celebrated another record-breaking year in terms of external research funding. U.S. News and World Report ranked us the fourth best value among all flagship universities, and Inside Columbia readers voted us the Best Place to Work in Columbia for 2025.
On top of the world-class education, you are joining a university that competes at the highest level in the SEC. I can’t wait for you to experience a game at Faurot Field, Mizzou Arena and the many venues where our student-athletes shine.
Discoveries that Matter
Mizzou is rising in many ways. Thanks to innovative partnerships and incredible state support, we’re planning to build a new state-of-the-art research reactor, NextGen MURR, that will allow us to continue to be a critical source of lifesaving radioisotopes for cancer treatments. We’re also launching the Energy Innovation Center to advance energy generation and policies through interdisciplinary collaboration. And, we are also making great progress on the Memorial Stadium Centennial Project. Together, these initiatives show what it means for Mizzou to be a pioneering research institution that has a profound and positive impact on people’s lives.
Supporting Your Success
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and confident there’s more ahead. That’s why we are embarking on a transformative new $2 billion fundraising campaign to support your success. Full details will be announced the weekend of our sold-out rivalry game against kU. Learn more about our kickoff events and register your attendance at Mizzou.us/RoarTogether.
Personal Responsibility and Accountability
Being a member of a world-class university also comes with responsibilities. At Mizzou, each person has the freedom to speak, learn and discover. We must work together to foster a welcoming environment and treat everyone with civility and respect. We are also committed to ensuring accountability for those who violate our policies. As outlined in our policies on free expression, we support peaceful interactions and civil discourse, but activities may not:
- Use or make a genuine ‘true threat’.
- Use force or engage in violence.
- Engage in discriminatory or threatening behavior (e.g., antisemitism, racial slurs, harassment, etc.).
- Significantly disrupt university activities inside or outside of buildings.
- Significantly disrupt previously scheduled campus events (including campus tours, examinations, commencements, campus celebrations, etc.).
- Use any sound amplification or illuminated devices that disrupt adjacent university activities.
- Camp or use temporary shelters (e.g., tents).
- Affix items, such as posters or signs, to any permanent structure or grounds.
If individuals or groups do not uphold these standards of conduct, we will enforce the university accountability policies as stated for students, faculty and staff, which may include suspensions, expulsions or campus trespass orders. If you experience discrimination or harassment on campus, report it using our online incident report form sent directly to the Office of Institutional Equity. If you experience an immediate threat, please call 911.
Thank you for being a part of Mizzou. Together, we can strengthen communities, win championships, create innovations that improve lives, pursue world-changing discoveries and prepare leaders for our state and world.
M-I-Z!
