Dear Campus Community,
We have been hard at work preparing our campus for in-person classwork for the 2020 fall semester. Following discussions with faculty leadership and the UM Board of Curators, we are announcing that MU and UM System employees will follow the existing schedule and will begin in-person classes on Monday, Aug. 24.
I’m incredibly grateful to the large team of people that have been working on detailed plans to make this a reality for our campus. Over the past few weeks, we have been slowly moving more people back to campus and preparing for what our new “normal” will look like for faculty, staff and students.
We will continue to monitor the pandemic situation closely and be ready to make any adjustments, which could include moving to remote instruction or other models for delivering instruction should that become necessary.
Additionally, everyone coming to campus and our offices this fall should expect to see and participate in changes, which will include new practices for personal health monitoring, social distancing, and other precautions. We will be sharing details and training as our plans are formalized.
Our No. 1 priority is ensuring the safety of our campus. We will be prepared and will have the flexibility to make any necessary changes as the situation evolves. This will require the cooperation of each of us to adhere to these new expectations for the health of our community.
I can’t tell you how excited I am to hear the roar of a fully populated Tiger campus in a few weeks. We’ve missed everyone and will be thrilled to see both new and returning Tigers back in their offices, classrooms, laboratories and work settings.
To our students – have a wonderful summer and we’ll see you in a couple of months. To our faculty and staff – thank you for all you have done to continue our mission of serving the state of Missouri.
We look forward to Aug. 24!
M-I-Z!
