Academic Program Review Final Report

Jan. 25, 2018

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

Today, the university is releasing a campuswide academic program review report. The report was prepared by a group of 15 faculty members from across campus. You can find the report here, and a press release summarizing the report is below.

It should be noted that this is stage one of our academic review process. University leaders will continue to review and discuss the results of the report with faculty, staff and students in the coming days and weeks. The next stage will be led by deans who will engage faculty and students to make additional recommendations for investment, collaboration or inactivation.

For some programs, we might make decisions immediately. In other cases, we might delay decisions until later in the spring so we can examine other factors that might need further review.

We want to emphasize that:

  • At this time, no final decisions have been made about any program.
  • Every student in a program slated for deactivation will have an opportunity to finish the program.
  • We are engaging as many members of the university community as possible as we continue this review. Faculty, staff and students will be part of the discussion as we move forward in an effort to make Mizzou a better institution.

We are focused on enabling our faculty to perform their best creative and scholarly work and providing exceptional education experiences that prepare students for their careers and contribute to the welfare of our state.

Sincerely,

Alexander N. Cartwright
Chancellor

Garnett S. Stokes
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
