Call for Applications for Faculty in Leadership

Dec. 12, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

The Office of the Chancellor is recruiting up to three faculty in leadership for the 2017-2019 academic years. These will be eighteen-month appointments, at least .5 FTE and will begin as soon as possible, but no later than February 1. These faculty fellows will report directly to the Chancellor and will serve on the Chancellor’s Staff.

The continued rapid change and challenges in higher education make it imperative that we consider how to reshape MU to be as effective as possible in delivering a high quality education, conducting cutting-edge impactful research, and translating that knowledge to applications that benefit society. The UM system has asked that we consider four broad areas as we envision our future: a) academic excellence, b) revenue enhancement, c) operational efficiency and d) resource utilization. It is imperative that the perspective of the faculty is present in all that we do to drive Mizzou forward.

The proposed three fellow positions are designed to ensure faculty are constantly involved at the highest administrative levels on a daily basis. Thus, we are requesting applications for a faculty fellow in each, or a combination of, the following areas:

  • Faculty Fellow for Strategic Initiatives: duties include leadership of strategic initiatives related to our pursuit of excellence in student success, research and economic development and engagement. This position will primarily address the area of academic excellence. An outstanding record of scholarly and teaching excellence is expected.
  • Faculty Fellow for Partnerships: duties include leadership and coordination of strategic partnerships that create additional revenue streams and optimize operations that align with student success, research and economic development and engagement. This position will primarily address the areas of revenue enhancement and resource utilization. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships is expected.
  • Faculty Fellow for Institutional Effectiveness: duties will focus on data-driven continuous improvement of the institution. This position will primarily address the areas of operational efficiency and resource utilization. Demonstrated experience in institutional research, assessment and data analytics is expected.

Faculty fellow positions may have additional duties assigned to them as needed by the Office of the Chancellor.

To apply, send a letter of interest and a CV to Marty Oetting (OettingM@missouri.edu) with a copy to Alexander Cartwright (MUChancellor@missouri.edu) by 5:00 p.m. on December 22.

Sincerely,

Alexander N. Cartwright, PhD
Chancellor
