Dear Colleagues,
Thank you to those of you who took time to come to the special faculty meeting Monday and for sharing with me your concerns about the Academic Program Review. I respect the passion demonstrated at the meeting and know that we are all trying to do our best to make Mizzou a great institution. As a reminder, the Task Force on Program Analysis, Enhancement and Opportunities, which consisted of faculty from across the campus, issued its recommendations in January. All of the data was made available here February 15, and since that time, deans have been working with their department chairs and faculty to provide feedback on the report, correct existing and submit additional data, and provide additional context relevant to the program. Materials related to the task force report and the data collected can be seen here.
As a follow-up to the resolution that was passed Monday, I am providing the following timeline for the process moving forward:
- During this semester, I will continue to work with members of my staff, deans, department chairs, faculty leaders and members of the Task Force to review data and recommendations. This process will include the recommendations made in the Task Force report, as well as other data and feedback the deans or others may bring forward.
- We will be providing additional views of the data as it becomes available. This will include summary information at the department level that can be easily accessed for review. Faculty are encouraged to review these data and provide any clarifications, or additional information, to my office by April 9. Questions or inquiries regarding the data can be sent to my chief of staff, Marty Oetting, at oettingm@missouri.edu.
- I will then make final decisions based on all the information by May 16.
I appreciate your involvement in these discussions as we work to move the university forward.
